Let’s Read website launches

SOUTH SEATTLE/SOUTH KING COUNTY — As King County schools prepare for summer break, a new website is making it easy for families and children to read together during the summer.

The site, letsreadkingcounty.org, is designed to funnel many different resources to one spot – making it easy for parents to promote literacy. Those who visit the site will find reading tips, information about free reading activities and hundreds of book suggestions for children. Downloadable fliers in 11 languages are also available on the site.

Region named finalist for All-America award

SOUTH SEATTLE/SOUTH KING COUNTY — Let’s Read is an important part of a regional proposal that was recently selected as a finalist for the All-America City Award, sponsored each year by the National Civic League. The plan aims to ensure more children in Seattle and South King County are reading by the end of third grade.
